This course is compulsory for ELED students while other students are not allowed to take this course. The course polishes the academic writing skills of students through process writing. Topics covered include: the rhetorical approach, genre analysis, academic style and tone, academic critique, vocabulary expansion, incorporation of sources, advanced sentence structures, punctuation variety, counterargument, introduction and conclusion, and concise and precise writing.
20% Critical Article Review (related to the researched argument essay) - 500 words (+/- 10%)
30% Researched Argument Essay (on any education-related topic) - 1500 words (+/- 10%)
40% Writing Portfolio (revised critical article review, revised researched argument essay, reflection essay, response to feedback received)
3.33% Peer-review assignments (quality and quantity) - conducted on an online platform named "Classroom Salon"
3.33% Academic Vocabulary Log - a collection of newly learnt academic vocabulary
3.33% Attendance & quality of participation in class
