The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Korean III and IV is covered in the course.
A significant shift in emphasis on grammatical structures compared to Korean I and II. Hence, reading and writing skills improve greatly though vocabulary remains limited. In addition, the language of instruction starts to tilt in favor of Korean over English. However, speaking fluently remains a big challenge.
Greatest improvement could be observed in expressive language functions (i.e. writing and speaking). By the end of this course, though far from being able to freely express oneself, genuine two-way communication in Korean is starting to become possible. Reading in an everyday environment (i.e. outside textbooks) still remains difficult, but vague understanding could be achieved now, albeit mainly through guesswork.
