The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Talk about discoveries in Chemistry plus easy Chem knowledge (H-bonding, flame test, noble gas...)
Phy concepts also involved (on the discovery of nucleus, nuclear power, etc)
Quite easy if studied both DSE Phy and Chem
However, there are only 40 vacancies, hard to reg
NO ATTENDANCE (y)
10% 2 assignments (matching, circling, fill in the blanks etc.)
10% 1 lab report (easy full marks, fill in the blanks, two as a group)
20% 1 essay (1000 words) (can choose to write from 5 topics: discovery of noble gases, electrolysis etc.)
60% 2 quizes (read ppt is enough, only MC and fill in the blanks)

呢個course 又係好輕鬆 sosad
個Lecturer就好好人既，成日話buy you a coffee buy you a decent lunch ==
Midterm @ 25% Final@ 45%
The whole course is about special things on chemistry, physics and biology. Easy for someone with AL background.
1 Quiz, Final
Different things related to chemistry.
1 mid-term, 1 exam (both are MC questions, almost the same every year), 1 simple lab worksheet.
chemistry and physics. similar to those learnt in secondary school
30% quiz (MCs and fill-in-the-blanks)
15% lab tour (matching phrases with experimental observations)
55% final (MCs and fill-in-the-blanks)
The course is designed to illustrate the basic principles of chemistry (e.g. atomic structure, bonding, kinetics and drug action etc) via case studies of some celebrated accidental discoveries (and wild claims) in science. Topics include, in ascending order of size: nuclei, atoms, small molecules, cyclic organic molecules, polymers and Viagra. It also highlights the different approaches adopted by individual scientists and industrial/pharmaceutical research teams when they are confronted with unexpected phenomena. Real-life applications of some of the discoveries are discussed.
More focus on how important discoveries in Chemistry are made (more like history lesson). The Chemistry knowledge itself is very basic (You've known them if you've taken DSE Chemistry). Note that nuclear physics are also taught in this course.
Midterm @ 25% Final@ 45%
assignment x 2, midterm, final, lab, all are easy
