Course Description
This course aims at providing an introduction to the formation of the cosmos and the origin of
life from an astrophysical perspective. The journey starts from the origin of the universe, and
leads us through all the intermediate milestones such as the appearance of matter, the
formation of galaxies, the formation of stars and planets, the appearance of simple life forms,
and the evolution of life on Earth. Students can thus develop a complete picture of the current
understanding of the emergence of life in the cosmos, and gain perspectives of the scientific
method that allows us to arrive at the knowledge.
