Course Description
This course is designed to teach you what cultural anthropology is all about in

today’s world. We begin by looking at how cultural and social anthropologists do

anthropology, focusing on ethnography and theory. We then explore, in turn, the

relation of culture to biology and environment, to psychology and the individual, to

language, to family, gender, and life-course, to economics, to power and politics, and

to religion. We then look at culture, ethnicity and nation, examine globalization and

what it means, and consider the future of anthropology.
