This course introduces the basics of information systems (IS) from a managerial perspective. The course emphasizes understanding IS at the social-technical interface with an interdisciplinary lens, from a data-driven, network-oriented and dynamic-control approach. A collection of toolkits (e.g., models, concepts, algorithms, theories) from the traditional IS discipline as well as from relevant fields will be introduced and exercised. These tools build up the foundation for the communication, execution and exploration of IS possibilities in industry, academia, and policy domains.
