It is an elective course for students in the Faculty of Education while students from other faculties are also welcome to take the course. The course is divided into two parts. The first half of the course analyzes the ideology, axiology, and praxeology of education from four different perspectives of education: intellectualist, moralist, autonomist, and qualitarian. The second half of the course discusses different aspects of whole-person education: spiritual, intellectual, moral, social, and aesthetic education. The whole course also enhances students' critical thinking skills.
Assessment
50% Assignment 1 - an open-book and open-notes mid-term writing task completed in class (students choose one out of two questions related to the first half of the course and answer the question according to guidelines on the question paper)
50% Assignment 2 - a 3000-word end-of-term paper (students express their own educational thought and reflect on their own educational stories by explaining how the course helps evaluate two aspects of their educational growth)
