This is a theme-based English language course about films, covering topics including cinematographic techniques, film genres, film-related vocabulary, and narrative. All students can take this elective course while ELED students can take this course as a major elective course.
Assessment
40% Group presentation - conduct a 30-minute presentation in groups of 3-4 to analyze a self-chosen scene from any film
40% Film talk - conduct a 10-minute informative presentation in pairs about any film-related topics
20% Written analysis - write an essay comparing and contrasting cinematographic techniques between two predetermined scenes from two of the four assigned movies (Leon: The Professional, Pan's Labyrinth, The Matrix, Spirited Away) discussed in class and viewed outside class in 45 minutes
