Course Description
This course is a compulsory course for ENGE and ELED students. English literary works in different parts of the world (e.g. South Africa, the Caribbean, Australia) as well as transnational literature is studied.
Assessment
10% Tutorial Preparation & Participation

20% Tutorial Presentation - put forward an argument based on the content of the previous lecture and support your argument with evidence

20% Bi-weekly Comprehension Task - 5 pieces in total throughout the term and only the best 4 are taken into account in the course assessment, at least 200 words each, the topic is set by your TA (e.g. definition of / your point of view on a literary term / issue, a phrase / paragraph in the text that you find most significant and why), graded on a 3-level scale (good / satisfactory / problematic)

50% Major Essay - choose one of the four questions provided in the course outline (1700 words, strictly +/- 10%)
