correct messages for audiences who are generally receptive, but busy. No matter what your career

is communication skills.
Assignments focus on documents students are most likely to use in the workplace soon after
graduation (e.g. letters, memoranda, and short oral and written reports). The course emphasizes a
direct pattern of organization with the main point (or thesis) towards the beginning as the most
suitable structure for the vast majority of business messages. Students are taught to use clear, concise,
correct, and unambiguous language and to avoid unnecessary jargon and inflated vocabulary.
