Course Description

All forms of psychological studies involve the use of measurement and testing. This
course is designed to cover the basic principles of psychological measurement and the
techniques of test construction, administration, and validation.

Topics include scales, transformation, norms, scale construction, theory of summated scores, reliability, validity, and Exploratory Factor Analysis. Some materials are already covered in PSYC2010 and PSYC2020.

Assessment

1.Midterm Exam (25 MCQs) 25%: Open-notes - allows one A-4 paper front and back
2.Final Exam (30 MCQs) 35%: Also open notes - allows two A-4 papers front and back
3.Group Project 30%: Design and Analyze your own Psychological test with SPSS, then present your findings
- Project Title Assignment 5%: Introduce the theoretical construct, background, applications, and methodology of the test
- Test Items Assignment 5%: Come up with 10-15 Test items
- Final Presentation 15%: 10-12 minutes of presentation and 2-3 minutes of Q&A
- Peer Evaluation 5%
4. Tutorial attendance 10%
