Course Description

This course will introduce you to a variety of topics that are covered under the abnormal psychology, including conceptual and methodological foundations of studying mental illness, diagnoses of mental disorders, psychopathology, etiology, prevention and treatment. Students will have the opportunities to critically examine and evaluate different methods in studying abnormal behaviors and gain more understanding of human diversity.

Assessment

Quiz 1 (10%) 50 MCQs, Noncumulative
Quiz 2 (30%) 102 MCQs, 5 Short Answer Questions, Nonculumative
Group Project (60%): Includes three components listed below, each carries 20%:
- A 5-7 minute video introducing a Psychological Disorder. The video can be in any format, for example news program, documentary, and vlog.
- Factsheet of a Psychological Disorder
- Classmate and Group member evaluation
