Course Description

Mainly study two class schema: neo-Weberian and neo-Marxian schema by Goldthrope and E.O. Wright respectively. Plus some follow up topics such as implication of class on politics, education, taste, etc. Tutorials focus on the case of Hong Kong

Assessment

30% Mid-term, 40% Final Take-home essay, 30% tutorial performance

介绍社会分层领域的核心理论和一些相关的实证研究。主要涉及社会不平等的形成机制、当代社会的阶级结构、社会流动与再生产过程、阶级背景对个人生活的影响、阶级与种族/性别等分层形式的相互勾连、未来的社会分层发展趋势等议题。
