Course Description
Before mid-term, Thompson introduced some special terms to describe common techniques used in films with around 5~7 clips per lecture as examples. After mid-term, he moved on to collections of of different themes (eg sci-fic), then to particular directors (eg Tim Burton, Wong Ka Wai).Assessment
Both mid-term and final consist of recognising film clips previously shown during lecture (can be reviewed online), and recalling as much as possible.
Term paper examining a clip from a film of choice (individually: 500words or in pair: 1000 words)
Presentation on the same clip, usually before submission of paper (optional, but compulsory if doing paper in pair)
