Course Description

This course is designed to introduce students to the multidisciplinary nature of urban studies. Students will learn the evolution of thoughts related to urban studies. And through local and overseas case studies, the instructors will investigate with students the social, economic, environmental, and political aspects of urban development issues and their relationships with urban planning and design. Students will be encouraged to apply what they have learned to analyze an aspect of urban development in Hong Kong.

Assessment

Class Activities (basically, it is like class discussion, but if you want to do well in this course, please participate and do NOT skip any lessons) 40% + Neighborhood Project / Urban Issues Project (Outline 5%, Presentation 15% and Final Report 30%) + Web-based Reflective Journal 10%
