Course Description
objective:This course provides a general introduction to

the atmospheric environment in terms of the

processes and interactions which take place and

the resulting temporal and spatial

manifestations in climate on Earth.
Assessment
Examination (two hours) 50%; Coursework 50% (lab exercises

20%; oral presentation 5%; project 25%).

Coursework

• Lab exercises: On a bi-weekly basis, all students are required

to complete the assigned lab exercises using Microsoft Excel

and/or KNMI Climate Explorer (http://climexp.knmi.nl/).

• Mini-presentation: All students are required to give one 5-

min presentation related to the assigned reading materials

(e.g., news articles, academic publications) during the

semester.

• Project: By the end of the semester, all students should use

analytical skills learned from this course to complete one

research project with assigned climate data.
