Course Description
MATH 2012 in 4-year curriculum. Fundamental concepts of mathematics, including elementary set theory, basic logic, proofs (direct, by contrapositive, by contradiction, mathematical induction, etc), relations and functions, basic mathematical analysis (concerning limits of sequences and convergence of series), basic group theory. Great stress on proofs
Assessment
50% final exam, 8% assignments (total 4), 32% in-class tests (total 2, carrying equal weight), 10% tutorial (participation and performance in presenting proofs)
