Talk about discoveries in Chemistry plus easy Chem knowledge (H-bonding, flame test, noble gas...)
Phy concepts also involved (on the discovery of nucleus, nuclear power, etc)
Quite easy if studied both DSE Phy and Chem
However, there are only 40 vacancies, hard to regAssessment
NO ATTENDANCE (y)
10% 2 assignments (matching, circling, fill in the blanks etc.)
10% 1 lab report (easy full marks, fill in the blanks, two as a group)
20% 1 essay (1000 words) (can choose to write from 5 topics: discovery of noble gases, electrolysis etc.)
60% 2 quizes (read ppt is enough, only MC and fill in the blanks)

Course Description
The course is designed to illustrate the basic principles of chemistry (e.g. atomic structure, bonding, kinetics and drug action etc) via case studies of some celebrated accidental discoveries (and wild claims) in science. Topics include, in ascending order of size: nuclei, atoms, small molecules, cyclic organic molecules, polymers and Viagra. It also highlights the different approaches adopted by individual scientists and industrial/pharmaceutical research teams when they are confronted with unexpected phenomena. Real-life applications of some of the discoveries are discussed.Assessment

呢個course 又係好輕鬆 sosad
佢教的野主要係一D 化學故事，就冇咩教D好難的原理既。例如D人點搵到helium，D人點發明魔術貼，D人點搵到UREA個D咁樣。所以其實你過去當聽下科普講座就OK，同埋份量都好少。
個Lecturer就好好人既，成日話buy you a coffee buy you a decent lunch ==
Lab 就係睇人做Lab 一d 幾得意的lab ，之後填份工作紙就ok，都幾得意既，d答案仲好有幽默感==
Essay 就好似1500 字啦，我果陣一題係寫核電，一題講納米咁樣，都幾易的
Mid-term and final 大部份都好straight-forward，溫左唔會唔識。不過，呢個lecturer會考佢上堂講過的爛GAG，做過D無聊野，諗起真係好無聊，哈哈。Assessment
